St. Patrick’s Day honors the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The holiday is celebrated around the world with parades, special food like cabbage and corned beef, and more.
Here are parades happening throughout the state to celebrate the Irish holiday.

The parade will celebrate its 51st anniversary in Hartford starting at 11 a.m. The route begins at Capitol Avenue, near the State Capitol, and ends near the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch. There will be many road closures around Capitol Avenue. Streets will reopen at 3 p.m.

The Walnut Beach Association will host the Milford St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade begins at 1 p.m. at Wasson Field.

Norwalk's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The parade will travel along Washington Street and North Main Street to the ending point at Pine Street.

New Haven, Connecticut - Sunday, March 10, 2019: The St. PatrickÕs Day Parade on a rainy and chilly Sunday afternoon in New Haven. According to the St. Patrick's Day Parade of New Haven website, the parade tradition was born in New Haven on March 17, 1842, when about 90 members of the Hibernian Provident Society, a mutual aid organization formed the previous year, marched through the city streets behind a banner made especially for the occasion.
This year's parade will take place on March 12, beginning at Chapel Street and Sherman Avenue. The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. It runs 1.3 miles and lasts about three hours. The parade will be broadcast on WTNH News 8.
The parade starts at noon and will kick off at the corner of Bank and Tilley Streets. It will proceed north on Bank Street, turn left up State Street and finish on Washington Street.

The Greenwich St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held at 2 p.m. starting at the Greenwich Town Hall. The parade route will continue down Washington Street, onto North Main Street and ends at Pine Street.

This St. Patrick's Day parade in Mystic takes place at 1 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Mystic Seaport. The parade will go through downtown Mystic and ends at the Groton Police substation.
The Essex go Bragh Irish Parade begins at 11 a.m. in town hall and goes down Main Street.
