15 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day in Connecticut

Love is in the air, but don’t let the heart-shaped boxes fool you; it comes in all shapes and sizes. For those who want to celebrate their platonic relationships Galentine’s Day is coming up on Feb. 13. 

Even if you’re not the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day, you can celebrate loving your friends. Connecticut is offering up tons of ways to celebrate with your besties from sampling snacks, hitting a show, getting crafty or even cuddling with a goat or two.

Get crafty

For those who have a penchant for making fun decor, there are tons of events where you can chat and get creative with your pals. Aquila's Nest Vineyard will be holding a paint your pet workshop on Feb. 10 during which attendees can paint portraits of their pets while sipping on wine from the vineyard. If pets aren’t your style, you can paint a dreamy beach-inspired masterpiece in Windham at the Beachin' Valentine's Paint Party on Feb. 11. The Pottery Factory in Brookfield will have a BYOB Paint and Sip event Feb. 13. Board & Brush is holding a Galentine’s sign painting workshop Feb. 10 in Danbury. Or if you have plans with your boo for Valentine’s Day you can always celebrate a bit later with some wine while taking a flower arranging workshop at Jonathan Edwards Winery Feb. 18 and 19.

Looking to be amused? Thomas Hooker Live in Hartford will be hosting the Heartbreaker Drag Brunch Feb. 12. The Connecticut Ballet will perform its Be My Valentine show at the Palace Theatre in Stamford Feb. 13 and the Bushnell Feb. 14. For those looking for more mature laughs, Get Filthy Comedy will be hosting comedian Troy Bond’s show in South Windsor on Feb. 10.

Light bites 

If you’re looking for something sweet to nibble on while gabbing with friends, Aquila's is offering two different dessert and wine pairings. Sample mini cupcakes from Good Morning Cupcake with a flight of wines on Feb. 10 or savor some macarons from Uncle Matt’s Bakery on Feb. 11. Gather your friends together to build your own charcuterie board and learn tips on crafting a board that promises to be “almost too beautiful to eat” in Westport. For friends who have a sizable sweet tooth consider visiting some spots along Connecticut’s Chocolate Trail.

Unwind

Indulge in some pampering at Essential Health at the Galentine’s Day Spa Experience which includes a massage, face mask, sauna and other treatments Feb. 12. Willowbrook Health Center is also offering a Galentine’s spa event which includes a reiki session, mini facial, massage and sauna session. If massages aren’t your ideal way to unwind, head over to Bradley Mountain Farm and kid around with some goats. The farm will be holding goat cuddles and goats in pajamas sessions on Feb. 12.
