Letters: Bed and breakfast brings uncertainty, security concerns

Pancakes, a modern healthy recipe from Twins Judy and Joy.

To the Editor: Again, Ridgefield families are facing the threat of a business forcing its way into a residential area. As a resident of Circle Drive, I’ve been vetting this decision by our neighbors to convert their home to a B&B and I’ve come up with a list of pros and cons. Except that there aren’t any pros, not for … read more

Letter: Residential B&B’s lower home values

To the Editor: It seems common sense that “Front Porch Farms” application to operate 47 Circle Drive as a bed and breakfast, in the middle of a residential neighborhood, would lower the surrounding area’s home values. Airbnb won’t be coming to town, zoning officer says

Looks like Ridgefield won’t be an Airbnb destination anytime soon. The $30-billion online platform — designed to facilitate short-term rentals between homeowners and travelers at lower rates than those offered by hotels — has been growing in major cities over the past half-decade. It hasn’t been an easy ride. Hotel corporations, as well as traditional bed-and-breakfasts, have spoken publicly against … read more
