What you need to know: True Freshman quarterback Zion Turner returns to his hometown as the Huskies will look to win consecutive games for the first time since 2017. UConn is FIU lined up with similar team statistics. UConn's offense has averaged 15.2 points per game while FIU's has averaged 17.8 points. The UConn defense is allowing 32.7 points per game and FIU has surrendered 39.5 points per game. UConn however, has had much stiffer competition in No. 22 Syracuse, No. 14 NC State and No. 4 Michigan and enters the away game as a 5.5-point favorite. Expect the training wheels on Turner to be further removed this week, perhaps with deeper pass attempts like we saw in last weekend's win over Fresno State. Devontae Houston (shoulder sprain) is slotted to lead the UConn backfield again along with true freshman Victor Rosa. Receivers Kevens Clercius and true freshman Justin Joly both had breakout games against Fresno State, and could factor heavily into any boost in the passing game.
