The Ridgefield High boys and girls cross country teams opened their seasons with sweeps at home on Tuesday. Taking six of the top-seven spots, the Ridgefield High girls cross country team beat Darien, 18-44, Stamford, 15-50, and Westhill, 15-50, at Ridgefield High School. Ridgefield junior Tess Pisanelli finished first overall with a time of 16:37.08 for the 4,000-meter course. Teammate Gabriella Viggiano was second in a time of 16:42.55, with Darien freshman Mairead Clas third in 16:49.91. After Clas came four more RHS runners: Rory McGrath (fourth, 17:00.50), Katie Langis (fifth, 17:05.79), Elizabeth DeMassa (sixth, 17:14.97), and Elizabeth Jasminski (seventh, 17:16.67). Meanwhile, the Ridgefield boys team topped Darien, 25-36, Stamford, 15-48, and Westhill, 20-43. Leo Rector led the Tigers with a fourth-place finish in a time of 14:01.45 for the 4,000-meter course. He was followed by teammates Chip Coffin (fifth, 14:09.85), Ethan MacKenzie (sixth, 14:11.33), Charles Namiot (seventh, 14:12.28), and Charles King (eighth, 14:16.03), as Ridgefield\u2019s five scoring runners finished uninterrupted. Darien junior Cormac Brown was first overall in a time of 13:43.45.
