Caitlin Slaminko scored five goals and Lexi Held made seven saves as the Ridgefield High girls lacrosse team edged Newtown, 12-10, in a non-conference game Thursday night at Tiger Hollow.

It was the third straight victory for Ridgefield, which is now 6-5 overall with four regular-season games left.

Riley Peters added a hat trick for the Tigers, as she and Slaminko combined for eight of the team's 12 goals.

Aly Gagnon contributed two goals, and Mary Hage and Bella Carrozza each scored one goal.

Hannah Boylan, Faith Arnold, Sophia Carnicelli, and Hage had one assist apiece.

"Riley Peters and Caitlin Slaminko controlled the draw," said Ridgefield head coach Cece Berger, whose team led 8-5 at halftime. "Riley came up with seven and successfully directed many others to Caitlin, who came through with 10. Hannah Boylan also grabbed three.

"Faith Arnold, Bella Carrozza, Sammy Lehaney, and Slaminko also had strong defensive stops and forced key turnovers," added Berger.

The loss was just the second this season for Newtown, which is now 8-2-1.
