It was a split decision on opening day for the Ridgefield High boys and girls outdoor track and field teams.

Competing on their home track Monday at Tiger Hollow, the Ridgefield girls defeated Fairfield Ludlowe, 93-52, while the Ridgefield boys lost to Ludlowe, 81-69.

Providing first-place individual finishes for the Ridgefield girls team were Carrina Dabroi (27.38) in the 200-meter dash, Tasha Riek (1:02.34) in the 400-meter dash, Grace Michalowski (2:26.04) in the 800, Emma Langis (47.06) in the 300 hurdles, Margaret Pell (7'0") in the pole vault, Leah Moroknek (32'0") in the triple jump, and Kelaan Mantoura (65'9") in the javelin.

Tess Pisanelli and Gabby Viggiano tied for first in the 1,600 with matching times of 5:18.68.

Rebecca Cohen, Riek, Carolyn Donovan, and Dabroi combined to win the 4x100 relay (52.43), and Kate Langis, Riek, Donovan, and Michalowski triumphed in the 4x400 relay (4:14.96).

Finishing second for the Tigers were Dabroi in the 100 dash, Cara Sheafe in the 200, Kate Langis in the 400, Samantha McLemore in the 3,200, Elizabeth DeMassa in the 100 hurdles and the triple jump, Donovan in the 300 hurdles, Sophie Reale in the pole vault, Moroknek in the long jump, Carli Ciavarelli in the discus, and Sydney Roth in the javelin.

Rory McGrath, Elizabeth Jasminski, Pisanelli, and Viggiano were second in the 4x400 relay.

Adding third-place finishes were Sofia Gasparo in the 200, Kasey McGerald in the 400, Jasminski in the 1,600, Stephanie D'Orso in the 3,200, Isabella DeMassa in the 100 hurdles, Alexa Sasse in the 300 hurdles, and Ciavarelli in the shot put.

Sasse, Sydney Rosen, Sydney Katz, and Sheafe finished third in the 4x400 relay.

For the Ridgefield boys team, Samuel McDonough and Liam Byrne each won two individual events. McDonough was first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.65) and the 300-meter hurdles (44.61), and Byrne prevailed in the discus (115'7") and the javelin (139'3").

Also finishing first for the Tigers were Charlie King (4:35.45) in the 1,600 and Chuckie Namiot (10:35.63) in the 3,200.

Ryan Sheafe, Amit Markos, James Kane, and Simon Jupp won the 4x400 relay (3:37.93), and Liam Carcich, Leo Rector, Todd Benson, and Charles MacArthur placed first in the 4x800 relay (9:42.89).

Contributing second-place finishes were James Ross in the 400, MacArthur in the 800, Ethan MacKenzie in the 1,600, Jon-Paul Karpf in the 3,200, Chris Colucci in the pole vault, Kurt Monahan in the long jump, Liam Smith in the triple jump, and Byrne in the shot put.

Third-place finishes came from Trevor DeMarco in the 3,200, Smith in the high jump, Ryan Contreras in the pole vault, and Colin Tarpey in the long jump and the triple jump.
