
The Ridgefield High boys and girls tennis teams continued their unbeaten starts to the 2019 season on Thursday afternoon.
Playing at home, the Ridgefield girls edged Trumbull, 4-3. The teams split the four singles matches, but the Tigers (3-0) took two of the three doubles matches.
Those two doubles victories came in straight sets. Jillian O'Keefe and Phoebe Seidenberg triumphed, 6-4, 6-2, at first doubles, and Isabel Voellmicke and Alexis Zacharakos added a 6-3, 6-3 win at second doubles.
Ridgefield's other points came via victories from Megan Dunphy (6-2, 6-1) at second singles and Tara Ford (6-0, 6-2) at fourth singles.
The Tigers' third doubles team of Kate Bucci and Julia Zangre split the first two sets with its Trumbull opponents before falling, 10-6, in the 10-point match tiebreaker.
In Trumbull, the Ridgefield boys team defeated the host Eagles by a score of 5-2.
Victories in all three doubles matches led the Tigers (3-0), who split the two singles matches with Trumbull.
