If this story sounds familiar, that's because it is.

For the fourth consecutive season, the Ridgefield High girls swim team finished second to Greenwich at the Class LL state championship meet.

The latest runner-up finish came Wednesday night, as the Tigers scored 578 points to place second behind Greenwich (745 points) at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Ridgefield was 62 points clear of another FCIAC rival, Staples (516), which placed third in the 20-team field.

Most of Greenwich's point advantage over Ridgefield came from last Wednesday's Class LL diving championships at Middletown High School. Greenwich divers placed first, second, third, and fifth, giving the Cardinals a 107-point head start over the Tigers (no diving points) entering the swimming portion of the meet.

Senior Anna Turner was Ridgefield's standout in the pool, winning two individual events. Turner triumphed in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.17) and also finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.34). Neither race was close: Turner won the 200 freestyle by more than two seconds and the 500 freestyle by more than four seconds.

Rylie Giles, Jenna Budicini, and Hannah Snyder added two top-eight finishes apiece. Giles was third in the 200 freestyle (1:54.45) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.91); Budicini finished fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:13.61) and the 500 freestyle (5:15.07); and Snyder placed fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.62) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (53.60).

Also qualifying for A Finals and finishing in the top eight for the Tigers were Hanna Sotolongo (third, 1:07.16) and Jenna Leonard (fourth, 1:07.42) in the 100 breaststroke; Stephanie Bishop (fourth, 1:54.92) in the 200 freestyle; and Elissa Clancy (seventh, 59.74) in the 100 butterfly.

Snyder, Giles, Bishop, and Turner combined to place second in both the 400 freestyle relay (3:29.72) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.50). Julia Weiner, Leonard, Clancy, and Emma Brody added a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:50.33).

Ridgefield also received points from Weiner (17th, 2:15.19) and Miranda Bonitatebus (18th, 2:16.17) in the 200 IM; Leonard (14th, 25.64) and Brody (19th, 26.09) in the 50 freestyle; Riley Riebling (16th, 1:01.68) in the 100 butterfly; Brody (23rd, 57.11) in the 100 freestyle; Bishop (ninth, 5:08.35) in the 500 freestyle; Weiner (ninth, 1:00.01) and Riebling (19th, 1:02.78) in the 100 backstroke; and Clancy (13th, 1:09.77) and Mia Ciaverelli (17th, 1:11:03) in the 100 breaststroke.
