Ridgefield runners dominate in sweeps

Anyone stationed near the finish line Monday at Allen's Meadow in Wilton might have assumed they were watching a training run for the Ridgefield High boys and girls cross country teams.

Accounting for nine of the top 10 finishers in the boys race and eight of the top 10 in the girls race, the Ridgefield teams easily swept their three opponents to stay unbeaten this season.

The RHS girls improved their record to 6-0 with wins over Wilton (17-45), Brien McMahon (15-50), and Norwalk (15-50), while the RHS boys are also 6-0 after trouncing the same three opponents by identical scores of 15-50.

In the boys race, Ridgefield supplied the top-nine finishers, with the first five of those contributing to the Tigers' team score.

Ethan MacKenzie was the winner in a time of 17:52.44 for the 3.1-mile race. He was followed by Ridgefield teammates Chip Coffin (17:59.54), Leo Rector (18:05.19), Charles Namiot (18:07.57), Christopher Lauretani (18:10.19), Chaz DellaCorte (18:15.51), Charles King (18:25.16), Charles MacArthur (18:30.72), and Ethan Snyder (18:31.32), who finished second through ninth, respectively.

The Ridgefield girls team placed its five scoring runners in the top-six overall.
