Scoring five of the final six goals, the Greenwich High girls lacrosse team defeated Ridgefield, 13-8, in an FCIAC quarterfinal game Friday in Greenwich.

With the victory, the fourth-seeded Cardinals (15-2 overall) advanced to the conference semifinals on Monday. Fifth-seed Ridgefield (11-6) will now await the start of the Class L state tournament.

After trailing 7-5 at halftime, the Tigers closed to within 8-7 with 20 minutes left in the second half. But Greenwich then outscored Ridgefield, 5-1, to secure the victory.

Caitlin Slaminko and Maeve Tobin each scored three goals for the Tigers. Katie Hoban and Caroline Curnal added one goal apiece.

Genevieve DeWinter (five) and Maggie O'Gorman (three) combined for eight goals for Greenwich, which won its eighth straight game.

Lexi Held made four saves in goal for Ridgefield, while Greenwich goalie Sloane Loveless had six saves.
