Opening a six-goal halftime lead, the Ridgefield High girls lacrosse team went on to beat Staples, 12-8, on Saturday in Westport.

Katie Hoban had three goals and three assists for the Tigers, while Caitlin Slaminko added four goals and an assist and Caroline Curnal had three goals.

Maeve Tobin and Mae Briody each scored one goal, with Tobin adding an assist.

Goalie Lexi Held finished with eight saves for Ridgefield, which evened its record at 4-4.

Hoban's goal off an assist from Slaminko put the Tigers ahead 1-0 lead just 50 seconds into the game, and the visitors extended their lead to 7-1 by halftime.

"Aly Gagnon had some key possessions in the game off the draw circle with a total of four," said Ridgefield head coach Cece Berger, "and Bella Carrozza contributed defensively with strong stops, as well as forcing Staples to turn the ball over four times."
