The Ridgefield High boys tennis team hopes the start of the postseason is like the end of the regular season.

A 7-0 victory over St. Joseph in the regular-season finale Saturday was the fifth straight win for the Tigers, who improved their record to 12-4 entering the conference tournament.

Ridgefield is seeded fifth in the eight-team FCIAC field and plays fourth-seed Greenwich in the quarterfinals today (Wednesday) at 4:30 at Greenwich High School. The winner faces either top-seed Staples or eighth-seed Fairfield Ludlowe in the semifinals on Friday at the home of the higher seed.

In Saturday's match, the Tigers were able to rest some of their top players and still sweep St. Joseph. Six of the Tigers' wins came in straight sets.

The only three-set match came at first singles, as Ridgefield's James Hourihan defeated Drew Morris, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.

Seth Prusko added a 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles, and the Tigers also got points from Tadd Long (6-2, 6-0) and Stephen Chen (6-0, 6-2) at third and fourth singles, respectively.

Ridgefield was more dominant in doubles, dropping only two games in three matches.

Noah Butler and Evan Belluschi posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles for the Tigers. Carter Schroppe and Harry Berger contributed a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second doubles, and Eddie Saad and Michael Wang added a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at third doubles.
