The Ridgefield High boys tennis team bowed out of the FCIAC tournament with a 4-1 quarterfinal loss to host Greenwich on Wednesday.

Greenwich, the fourth seed, will play top-seed Staples in a semifinal match Friday, while Ridgefield, the fifth seed, will prepare for the Class LL state tournament.

In Wednesday's conference quarterfinal, Greenwich won two-of-three singles matches and two-of-three doubles matches to clinch the victory.

Justin Speaker defeated Ridgefield's Brian Song, 6-3, 6-3, at first singles, and Kayden Witmer rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Seth Prusko at fourth singles.

Greenwich's second doubles team of Stefan Brovig and James Cosby earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Joe Campos and Emmett O'Malley, and the Cardinals' third doubles team of Kian Jain and Jimmy Papas beat Carter Schroppe and Harris Berger, 6-1, 6-1.

Ridgefield's lone win came from James Hourihan, who defeated Matthew Tamis, 6-0, 6-2, at third singles.

Note: The matches at second singles and first doubles were stopped once Greenwich got its fourth point.
