With four players combining for 16 goals, the Greenwich High girls lacrosse team defeated Ridgefield, 20-10, on Saturday in Greenwich.

"[We] got behind early in the game and couldn't climb out of the hole," said Ridgefield head coach Cece Berger, whose team spotted Greenwich a 6-1 lead and trailed 9-4 at halftime.

In the loss, the Tigers (1-1) got a superb effort from sophomore midfielder Caitlin Slaminko. Slaminko scored a game-high six goals and also forced six Greenwich turnovers. "[She] was hard to stop going to goal," said Berger about Slaminko.

Maeve Tobin added two goals for Ridgefield and Katie Hoban and Abby Winkler each had one goal.

Lexi Held made five saves in goal for the Tigers, and defender Sammy Lehaney won two draws and forced three turnovers.

Grace Fahey led Greenwich (2-1) with five goals. Paige Finneran and Maggie O'Gorman had four goals apiece, and Genevieve DeWinter scored three goals.
