When the Hollywood hustle and bustle got to be too much, Debbie Reynolds and her family would head for the hills—in Creston, CA, that is. That's the locale north of L.A. where they have a luxury compound.

The family, including daughter Carrie Fisher and son Todd Fisher, purchased the 44-acre property for $220,000 in 1990. They built a 7,800-square-foot main house the year after.

The seven-bedroom, 7.5-bath offering has been on and off the market since 2015, at prices ranging from $5.8 million to its current list price of $2.85 million.

The furnishings, art, and Hollywood memorabilia are not included in the sale price, but much of it is negotiable. There are some priceless treasures within these walls.

Western world

Reynolds starred in a number of Westerns, including "How the West Was Won" and "The Second Time Around," which could be the inspiration for the property's Western theme.

The retreat features Southwestern tile, knotty pine paneling, and furnishings reminiscent of the American West.

The staircase has a wrought-iron railing with stars that look like sheriff's badges. The stools at the bar nearby are upholstered in cowhide.

Hollywood history

The gabled main house has been frequented by many of the family's celebrity friends. In the plush screening room, guests could choose to watch one of 5,000 classic movies in Reynolds' collection.

Guests would also gather around a grand piano that had been in use at Reynolds' self-titled Las Vegas resort.

The billiard room was also a favorite gathering place, as was the library.

The kitchen is equipped with stainless-steel appliances and a quaint breakfast booth.

Guests could work off their meals in a fully equipped and mirrored gym.

The spacious primary suite is upstairs, and it has a fireplace, private balcony, and large bath.

Reynolds shot to stardom with her iconic performance in "Singin' in the Rain," with Gene Kelly. Her other notable films include "Tammy and the Bachelor," "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," and "The Singing Nun."

Reynolds also released a number of records and starred in TV shows such as "The Debbie Reynolds Show" and "Will and Grace."

Actor and writer Carrie Fisher, the daughter of Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, most notably starred as Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" films.

Fisher also appeared in "The Blues Brothers" and "When Harry Met Sally." She wrote and starred in the semibiographical play and movie, "Postcards From the Edge."

In 2016, mother and daughter unexpectedly died within a day of each other.

Ian Chandler and Jen Kennedy of Home & Ranch Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing.
