The home on 265 Dans Highway in New Canaan was only built in 1986, but it took design inspiration from a 1920s-era architect.
According to information provided by William Pitt Sotheby’s International, the owner of the brick manor home “envisioned a David Adler-style renovation from the first time she saw it.” Adler was a 20th century residential architect who was trained in England and designed over 45 homes in a grand, Classical style, according to a documentary on the architect. At least 12 of Adler’s homes are included on the National Register of Historic Places, the documentary profile notes, and his work is evocative of classic European nobility.
