Virginia G. Curnal, age 91, wife of the late Jacob A. Curnal and resident of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, CT, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018. Virginia was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Long Island. Virginia attended local schools and graduated from the State University of NY at New Paltz with a degree in education. Virginia taught elementary school for several years in Long Island before marrying and moving to New Jersey. \u00a0 After taking time off to raise their two children with her husband Jack, Virginia resumed her teaching career in the Union Township New Jersey School District until her retirement. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her late husband Jack, Virginia is predeceased by her parents Chris and Angelina Cosich and brother John Cosich. Virginia is survived by her sister Carolyn Ross, her son, James A. Curnal and his wife Virginia, her daughter, Lisa Curnal Eckstrom, five grandchildren, Ryan and Caroline Curnal and Christopher, Eric, and Lauren Eckstrom. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 6, 2018 at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ridgefield, CT.
