Gordon M. Knapp Sr., 66, of Ridgefield, husband of Katherine (Daley) Knapp, died on Monday evening, June 25, 2018 at Ct. Hospice, Branford, CT. Mr. Knapp was born in Norwalk, CT, April 21, 1952, son a the late C. Gordon and Ada (Servadio) Knapp. \u00a0A lifelong Ridgefield resident, he attended Ridgefield schools, graduated from Ridgefield High School with the Class of 1970 and Paul Smith\u2019s College-The College of the Adirondacks-Paul Smith\u2019s, NY where he majored in Forestry. Upon graduation from Paul Smith\u2019s College, Mr Knapp was employed with Knapp Brothers Tree Company and later became a line foreman and construction manager with Connecticut Light and Power retiring after thirty five years of employment with CL&P. Active in Scouting, Mr. Knapp was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Ridgefield Lions Club, assisted in the annual holiday lighting of Main St.-Ridgefield and also known to the residents of Ridgefield as Santa Claus. He was a member of the CERT Team of Wilton. In addition to his wife of forty years, Mr. Knapp is survived by a daughter, Mary F. Knapp of Ridgefield; two sons, Gordon Knapp Jr. and his wife Shannon of Bethel and Bill Knapp and his wife Alyssa of North Kingstown, RI and three grandchildren, McKenzie, Edward and Rylee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. Interment will be private and at the direction of the family. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contributions in Mr. Knapp\u2019s memory may be made to the Ridgefield Fire Dept.
