Elmer R. Coombs, loving husband and father, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of 15 Lakeside Drive, Ridgefield, peacefully passed away in his sleep on October 26, 2018. Born on February 2, 1928 in White Plains, NY to George and Alice (Weaver) Coombs of Buckhout Rd, White Plains, NY. Elmer graduated White Plains High School and joined the Marines in 1946, receiving a honorable discharge in 1948. He married his first wife Josephine in 1950 and in 1958 moved his family to Ridgefield. He worked for many local companies over the years as an oil burner technician and spent the later years in life as a salesman for Deer Out. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Ridgefield Bowling League for many years. He loved fishing and camping in Phoenicia, NY. After his wife Josephine passed, he found the second love of his life, Marilyn, was remarried and moved to Florida. Elmer (aka Pop Pop), was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine, and daughter Barbara Conrad. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn, his daughter, Patricia Bragg, his grandchildren, Casey and Brandon Conrad, Greg Bragg, and Alicia Bragg Zwickler several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brothers George of Armonk, NY and Daniel & sister-in-law Charlotte, of Venice, FL. His proudest moments of his life were the birth of his daughters and his grandchildren. He felt blessed to have found two wonderful women to share his life with and he most wanted to be remembered for his honesty. Burial will be private.
