Karol Lynn Vogl of Ridgefield died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, after a long struggle with cancer. She was born on April 22, 1944 in Troy, New York. She graduated from Russell Sage College with a degree in Social Work in 1965 and worked briefly in that field. Years later, at the age of 45, she returned to school, ultimately earning her Masters Degree in Nursing from Pace University and working as a nurse. Friends and family will always remember her as a beautiful, kind, vibrant, energetic woman, who loved the outdoors, animals, her spouse, her children, and especially, her grandsons. A true caregiver, she was a mother who made holidays special, a wife who made a house a home, and a friend who made hardships easier to bear. Karol is survived by her husband, Glenn Vogl, of Ridgefield, CT, her daughter, Traci Morena, of Brookfield, CT, her daughter Nicole Christensen, of Cary, NC, her grandsons, Kyle and Noah Christensen, also of Cary, NC, her sons-in-law, Joseph Morena and Gustavo Christensen, of Brookfield, CT and Cary, NC, respectively, and her brother, William McNeil, of Loveland, OH, in addition to her wonderful and supportive friends and extended family who share in our grief over her passing. She will join her parents, Frank and Caroline McNeil, and her beloved pets and horses (of which there are far too many to mention by name, but who will be elated to see her once again) in heaven. A mass at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Katonah will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Karol Vogl’s name to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
