William Roy Turgeon, 85

William “Bill” Roy Turgeon, Jr. age 85 of Ridgefield, husband of Merrietta “Rita” (Eden) Turgeon, died at his home on Thursday, Oct. 29, following a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Mr. Turgeon was born in Chicago, Ill. on  Jan. 6, 1931, to William R. and Edith Mary (Skinner) Turgeon. He was raised in the suburbs of Chicago, attended local schools and met Rita there in the early 60s. They were married 53 years ago in Deerfield, Ill. They have lived in Northbrook, Ill., on Long Island, and have been residents of Ridgefield since 1988.

Turgeon was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Sky Harbor Airport in Northbrook, Ill. and at Poe’s Camera of Evanston, Ill. before moving to Long Island.

Turgeon had a love for photography, music, and reading. He was also adept at building and fixing things around the house and enjoyed the company of dogs, most especially springer spaniels.

In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by a brother, Terry Turgeon and his wife Diana of Menasha, Wisc., and two nephews.

Funeral services are private and at the direction of the family.
