William Melnick, 83, systems analyst, Korean War veteran

William W. Melnick of Ridgefield, a retired systems analyst and Korean war veteran, died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Laurel Ridge Health Care of Ridgefield. He was 83 years old and the husband of Ann Gueci Melnick.

Mr. Melnick was born in New York City on May 16, 1930, a son of Dimitri and Mary Melnick.  He attended New York schools, lived in the Ozone Park section of Queens, N.Y., and moved to Ridgefield in 1995.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Melnick was a retired systems analyst with Chase Manhattan Bank of New York.

He enjoyed music, tennis, and photography and was a member of St. Mary Parish.

Besides his wife of 56 years, Mr. Melnick is survived by three sons, Michael D. Melnick of Wilton, and twin sons, Stephen J. Melnick of Forest Hills, N.Y., and John W. Melnick of Fairfield.

A sister, Catherine, and brother, George, died before him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 18, at 10:15 a.m., in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., on Saturday, Nov. 16,   from 2  to 5 and 7  to 9,  and Sunday, Nov.17,   from 3 to 6 p.m.

Contributions in Mr. Melnick's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society.
