Virginia L. Snyder, 74, nurse, loved to bake

Virginia L. Snyder, 74, of Eastvale, Calif., died on Thursday Oct. 2, 2014 with family by her side.

She was born in Wheeling W. Va., June 11, 1940, to Hayes and Martha Fish. She graduated Martinsburg High School in 1958. She graduated from Lewis Gale Nursing School in Roanoke, Va. and became a registered nurse.

Ginny married Charles W. Snyder in July of 1963 and they moved to Ridgefield in 1971. In 2012, after the death of her husband, she moved to Eastvale to live with her youngest son, Brett.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by her three children: Laurel H. Snyder and her children Alexandra and Mark; Kurt E. Snyder and his wife, Liza, and their children, Charlotte and Marley; and Brett W. Snyder and his wife, Julie, and their children, Emily, Rachel, Katherine, and Matthew; and Jeremy Gordon and Justin Gordon. Mrs. Snyder is also survived by her sister Peggy A. Boys, husband Vernon, and their children Zandra and Jason.

In addition to her parents and brothers, Bill and Bob, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Snyder.

Mrs. Snyder was a long time member of the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church and Founders Hall Senior Center. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years.

Her family said she loved traveling with her husband, reading, and baking. She especially loved the holidays and was known for baking her family’s traditional Santa cookies. She worked countless hours on her family’s genealogy history, which was her favorite hobby.

Mrs. Snyder was a registered nurse at Ridgefield Pediatrics and Western Connecticut State University.

A celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 2 pm. 220 West Marin St., Martinsburg, W. Va.
