Patrick Sean Donovan, 49

Patrick Sean Donovan, 49, of Ridgefield CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, after a courageous battle against cancer.  He was the loving husband of MaryEllen Fogarty Donovan and devoted father of Carolyn and Ryan Donovan.

Sean was born in Meriden CT on May 3, 1967, the beloved son of Francis and Phyllis (Salvini) Donovan.  He attended local public schools and graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in 1985.  He went on to graduate from Cornell University in 1989, and Columbia School of Business in 1996 with high honors.  A gifted writer with an analytical mind, Sean spent his career in strategic marketing and communications for both multinational and start-up companies across a variety of industries.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past 8 years since relocating from Manhattan, Sean coached his son Ryan’s little league teams, was active with his daughter Carolyn’s soccer teams, and served as chairman of the St. Mary School advisory board.  He liked planning the many trips his family took: to Belgium, France and Great Britain, as well as Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Parks.  He also loved his annual trips to the Caribbean, and summers in Montauk.  Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, making everyone laugh with his extraordinary sense of humor.
Family was paramount, and Sean’s love for them profound.  In addition to MaryEllen, to whom he was married for 20 years, Carolyn and Ryan, Sean is survived by his parents Francis and Phyllis Donovan; three brothers: Kevin Donovan and his wife Elizabeth; Brian Donovan and his wife Nanette; and Gregory Donovan and his wife Diep; and his sister, Peggy Lezon and her husband Bob.  He is also survived by MaryEllen’s father Patrick Fogarty; siblings Patrick Fogarty and wife Patricia; Carol Roscoe and husband John; Marlene Sughrue and husband John; many nieces and nephews, as well as scores of friends with whom he shared deep and unshakable bonds.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, at 10:15 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery; 110 North Street, Ridgefield.
Friends will be received on Monday, January 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Mary School, Ridgefield CT.
