Oliver Samuel Edson, 16, artist, metalworker, inventor

Oliver Samuel Edson, 16, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 after a heroic two-year battle against Osteosarcoma. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home.

Oliver was born on July 20 in Holyoke, Massachusetts; a cherished son of Luke Edson and Jennifer Ripa-Edson.

Oliver was a member of Ridgefield High School’s Class of 2018. He attended Ridgebury Elementary School and Scotts Ridge Middle School.

Oliver was a gifted artist, metalworker and inventor. He was an avid snowboarder, surfer and longboard skateboarder. Oliver was an archer and an aspiring bladesmith. To all of his activities and interests, Oliver brought astounding passion, work ethic, ingenuity and individualism.

Oliver will be missed by his parents Luke and Jennifer and by his three brothers; Seamus, Liam and Owen. He will also be remembered by his paternal grandparents, David Edson and Ellen Edson; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Barbara Ripa; his aunts and uncles, John and Mary-Beth Henry, Jonathan and Laurie Edson, Jay and Joycelyn Ripa and Sam Ripa; and his godmother Winifred Grimaldi.

In addition, Oliver is survived by his very loving cousins, Kaitlin and Jonathan Henry; Timothy, Alea, Isolde and Alaric Edson; and Tre, Noah and Tori Ripa.

Friends will be received on Friday, April 8, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

A Memorial Ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 9, at noon at the Matrix Corporate Center, 39 Old Ridgebury Road, Danbury.
