Obituary: Kevin L. Flanagan, formerly of Ridgefield

Kevin L. Flanagan of Boxborough, MA, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Bloomfield, NJ and Ridgefield, CT, he was the son of Mary (McCauley) Flanagan and the late Patrick Flanagan.

Kevin graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1974. He earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and had a successful career in computer engineering for many years.

He had many hobbies throughout his life including long-distance cycling, photography, windsurfing, camping and was also a recreational pilot and lover of classic rock.

A family man, he loved to spend time with his wife, children and extended family.

In addition to his mother, Kevin is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia A. (Frey) Flanagan, their daughters, Kelly E. Flanagan and Colleen P. Flanagan; two brothers, Neil W. Flanagan of Ridgefield and Robert J. Flanagan of Dunstable, MA; a sister, Patricia Carraturo of Bethel, CT; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family.

Visiting hours were held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Acton Funeral Home in Acton, MA. The funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Acton, MA. The burial followed in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Maynard, MA.
