Obituary: Kathleen M. Trench, 80, of Ridgefield

Kathleen (“Kitty”) M. Trench, 80, of Ridgefield, passed away on June 27, 2018. She was the loving wife of Joseph J. Trench.

Kitty was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on October 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Miles and Katherine (McKee) Donnelly.

Kitty was a graduate of Villa Marie Academy and Immaculata University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Home Economics and Secondary Education. She briefly taught at Conestoga High School before she married April 11, 1959 and started a family.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 46 years, Kitty was a stay at home Mom until her sons were in school and she started a second career as an Insurance Broker for Fred P. Montanari at Keeler and Durant Real Estate and Insurance where she stayed for over twenty years, retiring in 2001. Active in the Ridgefield Community, Kitty was a Religious Ed Teacher at St. Mary’s Parish in Ridgefield; Publicity Director for Ridgefield Little League and volunteer Shopkeeper at Keeler Tavern Museum.

An avid lover of travel, Kitty made several trips to Ireland to connect with her family heritage since she was the first to be born in the United States. Kitty and her husband spent a few summer vacations with the goal of visiting every Major League Baseball Park. Trips with her children included Bermuda, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Ireland. Kitty’s most enjoyed time was spent with her grandchildren, be it a walk on the Beach in Ogunquit, ME or a Graduation party in Alpharetta, GA. She also enjoyed those junkets to AC with Lynn; UCONN Women's Basketball and Final Four’s; Molly; Gathering of the Goddesses; Founders Hall; Ridgefield Library; reading; crossword puzzles; writing letters. Her happy place is where the ocean meets the shore.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph, and their 4 sons: Joseph Jr. and his wife Carolyn; Peter and his wife Rose; Mark and his wife Janine and James. Kitty is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Peter Jr., Cara, Luke and Nate. She was predeceased by her sister Mabel T. McMearty.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 1:15 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.
