David P. Donohue of East Quogue, N.Y., and a longtime Ridgefielder, died peacefully on December 16th after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

A native of Queens, N.Y., David was a proud Veteran of the U.S.Navy and enjoyed a long career with New York Telephone and AT&T. Dave married his beloved wife, Kathleen “Kay” (Begley) and would move with his family from Valley Stream, Long Island to Mimosa Circle in 1972. Together there, they shared many years and great friendships in town.

Dave enjoyed golf, was an avid NY Giants and Notre Dame football fan and and was a member Italian American Mutual Aid Society. Dave and Kay left Ridgefield in 2006, moving to eastern Long Island in retirement, enjoying travel to St.Croix and Florida and summers surrounded by their grandchildren at the beach.

Dave was predeceased by his wife in 2015, his parents David and Lillian and brother William. He is survived by his children, Margaret and husband Walter Donovan, Kathleen Hennessey, David Donohue, Robert Donohue and wife Elizabeth DiSalvo, Stephen Donohue and Lori Ulm. He is also survived by grandchildren Thomas, Jeanne and Theresa Donovan, Caitlin and Lauren Hennessey, Jaquelin and Owen Donohue, Alexandria Donohue, Eli Keeler, great-grandson Aiden Blekis and nephews William Donohue and John Donohue and their families.

He dearly loved his family and wonderful friends and will be greatly missed by many.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 19th at R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home, 94 East Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, N.Y., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rosalie R.C. Church, 31 East Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, on Thursday December 20th, at 10:30 a.m.
