Lucy Marie Vitali, 92, longtime Ridgefielder, great grandmother of 23

Mrs. Lucy Marie Vitali, 92 of Norwalk Ct died on Wednesday, August 14 at the Norwalk Hospital in the company of her loving daughters.

Lucy was born in Norwalk

on April 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marianna Chiaia. She was preceded by her husband Rico Vitali, infant son Richard, twin sister Caroline Nuzzo, sisters Mary Giordano, Antonette Tavella, Katherine DeMarte and her brother Samuel Chiaia.

She grew up in Norwalk and lived in Ridgefield for over thirty years while raising her family.

Lucy was an avid bowler in her younger days and had a passion for dancing and music. An avid reader, she belonged to a book club for over 20 years and was a loyal Yankee fan throughout her lifetime.  She was a member of Saint Mary’s Church.

Her wit and humor brought laughter to all who met her and instant friendships were made.

Her family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Andrea Ruskin for going “above and beyond” in her dedication, tireless effort and gentle care; and the entire staff on 6-East at the Norwalk Hospital.

Lucy is survived by her five daughters, Marylou Trzcinski and Dolores Martin of Arizona, Jeannette Forcelli of Ridgefield, Gloria Mola of Norwalk, Angela Vitali of Easton, and spouses. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and twenty-two nieces and nephews and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 20, 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 30 Church St., Georgetown, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield.
