Louis I. Burgio, 73, musician, father of Ridgefielder

Louis I. Burgio, 73 of Danbury, CT and Brooklyn, NY died on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Burgio was the husband of Gladys (Ennis) Burgio and father of Debra A. McCann of Ridgefield.

He was born in New York, NY, September 8, 1938, son of Joseph and Vita (Merlo) Burgio and attended New York Schools.

A resident of Brooklyn for forty-five years, Mr. Burgio was a self-taught musician playing the drums, guitar and piano and established his own band which performed for many occasions for many years.

He enjoyed music, drawing, painting, old movies and the subject of science and was a member of A.A.R.P.

In addition to his wife, Gladys of fifty-one years and daughter, Mr. Burgio is survived by his son in law, James McCann of Ridgefield; a brother, Joseph Burgio, two grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. McCann and James L. McCann and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield with Monsignor Laurence J. Bronkiewicz, Pastor officiating.

Interment will take place in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, N.Y.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 3 PM to 5 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
