Lorraine McMahon, 88, dental hygienist, longtime resident

Lorraine Marion McMahon, age 88, of Ridgefield,   passed away February 8th, 2013 at Hancock Hall, Danbury.  Mrs. McMahon was the wife of the late William Charles McMahon who passed away in 2000.

Born on July 30, 1924 in Chicopee, Mass., Lorraine was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Aurora Beauregard Remillard. She grew up in Belchertown, Mass., graduated from Belchertown High School in 1942 and graduated from Forsythe Dental Training School in Boston Mass in 1946 with a degree in Dental Hygiene.

She married Bill McMahon in 1948  they  lived in  Old Lyme and New Canaan, before moving to Ridgefield  in 1961 and have remained in Ridgefield since.

She worked at the dental practices of Dr. Gordon Pettit and Dr. Daniel Latowicki as a dental hygienist before her retirement in 1996.  Her hobbies included extensive gardening and painting.

Mrs. McMahon is survived by her children, Lori McCleery and her fiancé Kevin Kendrick; son, Brian McMahon and his wife Slavka of Sydney, Australia and son, Barry McMahon of Danbury. She was predeceased in 2007 by a son, Edward Scott McMahon.

Also surviving is her sister Lee Masi of Feeding Hills, Mass.; nephew, Patrick Gallagher and his fiancée, Linda Harrison; niece, Lynn Collins and her husband Steve and niece, Teresa Stamile. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Keiser and Maggie Gallagher.

A special thank you to Karen Dascano, who served as Lorraine's  aide and companion, providing immeasurable love, support, and kindness for  the past 10 years.

Many thanks to the staff of Hancock Hall especially nurses Mary Conte and Leo Brum for their support and exceptional medical care in the last year, as well as Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut.

Services will be private and at the direction of the family.
