Josephine Altese, 85, seamstress, homemaker, Founders Hall member

Josephine Altese, 85, wife of the late Joseph C. Altese, died on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Altese was born in Brooklyn, NY, September 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Jenny (Canazzaro) Barresi.  Mrs. Altese attended Brooklyn schools and in earlier years was a seamstress prior to her marriage to Joseph Altese.  She became a wife, homemaker and mother.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past three years, she resided in Boynton Beach for 28 years.  Prior to Boynton Beach, Mrs. Altese resided in New Jersey and Brooklyn, NY.

She enjoyed crocheting, painting, mahjong, card playing, entertaining and cooking.

A member of Founders Hall, Mrs. Altese was a member of St. Mary Parish, Ridgefield.

Mrs. Altese is survived by her son, Frank Altese and his spouse, Martin Matkovich of Ridgefield; two daughters, Joy Lanza and her spouse, Anthony of Ocean Ridge, FL and Louise Cuvillas and her spouse, George of Rock Hill, NY; a sister, Ann Pascucci of Singer Island, FL; three grandchildren, Gina Cuvillas, Dayna Lanza and Michael Cuvillas and several nieces and nephews.

She is also leaves behind her pet dog, Jo-Jo.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM.

Contributions in Mrs. Altese's memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Ridgefield, 90 East Ridge, Meals on Wheels Program, 25 Gilbert St. or the Ridgefield Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, 6 Catoonah St. all of Ridgefield, CT  06877.

Entombment will take place in the Boynton Beach Mausoleum, Boynton Beach, FL on Friday.
