Hilda Mae Feneley, 83, was nurse, volunteer

Hilda Feneley of Clearwater, FL died March 17th at Mease Countryside Hospital. She was 83 years old. Hilda was born on October 26, 1930. She was the daughter of Eva and Fred Nelson. Hilda was raised in New Bedford, MA. She graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She practiced pediatric nursing at MGH. She then married her late husband James S. Feneley on October 10, 1952 in Whidbey Island, Washington. They were married 50 years. She and Jim lived in Ridgefield from 1963 to 1986 before moving to Clearwater, FL.

Hilda was an active member of the Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association. She also volunteered at the Ridgefield Thrift Shop for many years. She was an avid bridge player and loved to garden.

She was predeceased by a brother James Nelson.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Mary Feneley of Herndon, VA and Scott and Donna Feneley of Monroe, CT and by five grandchildren, Michael and Jack Feneley of Herndon; Laura, Ryan and Kiersten Feneley of Monroe.

In addition to her husband, parents and brother, Mrs. Feneley was predeceased by a son, James Nelson Feneley who died in 1974.

Memorial services will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:30 am in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., Ridgefield with Rev. Whitney Altopp, Rector, officiating.

Burial will take place in Fairlawn Cemetery, Ridgefield.
