Grace Storey , 93, played the organ

Grace Alberta Storey, 93, who lived in Ridgefield, for 37 years before coming to The Villages, Fla., in 2001, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Storey was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Park Rapids, Minn., the last of five children of Harve and Ida Wright. Mr. Wright was a carpenter and Mrs. Wright a homemaker.

A 1939 graduate of Park Rapids High School, Mrs. Storey moved during World War II to St. Paul, Minn., where she worked as a secretary at Fort Snelling. She later moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she was a secretary at the U.S. Navy base at Terminal Island. She met Lt. Harold R. Storey, a naval aviator, on a blind date and the couple were married in 1947 in Long Beach. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in March.

Mr. Storey became a pilot for United Airlines, and the couple lived in Denver, Colo., Chicago, and Marblehead, Mass., before moving to Connecticut in 1964.

Mrs. Storey loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and playing the organ, and served as a volunteer at Danbury Hospital. She traveled extensively in the U.S. and visited Greece, London, Paris and Ireland.

Besides her husband, she leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory D. and Charlene of Roselle Park, N.J., and James R. and Kathleen, of Charlotte, N .C.; one grandson, Nolan, of New Orleans; and one granddaughter, Briana, of Charlotte.
