Ellen A. Flynn, 77, homemaker, grandmother, volunteer

Ellen A. Flynn, 77, of Ridgefield, wife of the late Thomas Flynn and mother of Margaret M. Martin of Ridgefield, died on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.

“Knock Knock” as she was affectionately known  from a name given by her grandchild, Ellen was born in Long Island, NY, January 8, 1936, a daughter of Arthur and Rose (Bereck) Miller.

She attended NY schools and was a homemaker.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past five years coming from Staten Island, she was a member of St. Mary Parish and a former member of Holy Child Parish of Staten Island.

As a Staten Island resident, Mrs. Flynn was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program for thirty years.

She enjoyed cooking and enjoyed most especially the time shared with her family.

She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her daughter, Margaret M. Martin and her husband, Michael, of Ridgefield, she is survived by a sister, Laura McKeown of Aberdeen, NJ; four grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Taylor and Michaela; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Flynn was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Millerand by two sisters, Rosemary Weisberg and Jean DeBlock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1:15 PM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Staten Island, NY at the direction of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
