Edward P. Weston, 84  

Edward Patrick Weston, age 84 of Ridgefield, husband of Joan Ella (Farrell) Weston died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 12, following an eight-year battle with Alzheime’s disease.

Weston was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 9, 1931, to Patrick and Ann (Duffy) Weston. He was the eldest of five children. He attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and after receiving a degree in electrical engineering from City College, N.Y. he accepted a position as a research technician at Schlumberger Doll Research Center in Ridgefield. He attended classes at Columbia University and later in his career at M.I.T. in Boston, Mass. to broaden his knowledge and expertise within his field. He retired from Schlumberger in 1994.

Mr. Weston met his wife Joan (originally from Brewster, N.Y.) at a dance in Bethel in 1964 and after a brief courtship were married at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past July.

Mr. Weston was a long-time member of the AARP of Ridgefield and served as its coordinator of guest speakers for several years. He was also a member of the Ridgefield Men’s Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking, doing crosswords and traveling. He was a lector at St. Elizabeth Seton Church for many years.

In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by a son, Joseph Patrick Weston of Jersey City, N.J.; a daughter Susan and son-in-law Patrick Tracey and two grandchildren, Sadhbh and Feidhlim Tracey all of Dunmore, county Galway, Ireland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield.

Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
