The Ridgefield Thrift Shop will be awarding $1,000 scholarships to two Ridgefield High School seniors this year. The application is available on Naviance, through the Ridgefield Thrift Shop website (ridgefieldthriftshop.com) or at the shop. To be considered, you must be graduating from Ridgefield High School this year and planning to attend college in the fall. You are required to write a short essay answering the question, “If you had $5,000 to give to one of the Ridgefield Thrift Shop grant recipients, which one would you choose and why?” Additional details are on the application, which must be received by April 30. We look forward to reading your submissions.

There’s no assignment for the rest of us. We just need to donate and shop so we can continue to award scholarships and provide grants to non-profit organizations. Popular items this week are an Ironworks toolkit which features your basic household tools — hammer, wrenches, pliers, Makita drill bits and a socket wrench, Black & Decker utility drill, and dog/baby gates. Come over to 21B Governor Street Monday through Friday from 12 to 4 and Saturday from 10 to 2 to check out what we’ve got. Donations are welcome whenever we are open.
