Letter: Resident supports Bob Hebert for state Rep.

What are the most important issues facing Ridgefielders? Which candidates are best equipped to handle them?

Connecticut has the second highest tax burden in the nation, exacerbated by raising the diesel gas tax and instituting a truck tax which will go into effect in Jan. 2023.

Bob Hebert will work to eliminate burdensome taxes by the current administration in Hartford, allowing Connecticut residents to live and prosper here. So many CT residents have left our state that our economy has not yet recovered from the 2008 economic crisis.

Bob firmly believes in local control of our town, rather than Hartford’s continuous push to mandate legislated overdevelopment of Ridgefield.

Hartford’s efforts affect all of us…..who wants a six or eight story apartment building next to their home? Private property is not respected in Hartford, as seen by the as-of-right clauses in their proposed housing bills.

Do you support local control over our local schools? Bob believes we need to recognize the rights of parents to have an active role in their child’s education and healthcare. State mandates over our curriculum need to be removed so that our elected school boards can reflect what parents want for their children in the classroom.

Finally, safety and security for our citizens and schools is a top priority. We need justice reform to include appropriate consequences and rehabilitation for repeat offenders. Drug use prevention is also critically important.

Bob Hebert is the candidate that deserves your vote. His values are in the right place. Plus, he has years of experience, both on local boards and as a current Ridgefield Selectman.
