Violanda (Alice) Castellazzo Montanari, 99, formerly of Ridgefield, CT, beloved wife of the late Hugo Montanari and loving mother of Arthur Montanari of Bethel and Frances Roach of New Milford, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Village Crest, Center for Health and  Rehabilitation in New Milford, CT, with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Montanari was born in New Haven, CT on August 8, 1915, a daughter of the late Pietro and Marcella (Zenoni) Castellazzo.  She attended New Haven schools.

Mrs. Montanari was a homemaker and a resident of Ridgefield for over 50 years, until she moved to New Milford to live with her daughter.  She was a former member of St. Mary's Parish. Mrs. Montanari enjoyed giving loving care to the elderly, retiring as a Caregiver at Tranquility Old Age Home on Rainbow Lake in Ridgefield.

In addition to her son, Arthur (Elise) and her daughter, Frances (Jim), she is survived by four grandchildren, Michael Roach (Reaghan) of Brooklyn, NY, Shelly Roach of Stamford, CT, Alana Schmitz (Michael) of San Francisco, CA, and Marisa Manley (Mark) of Jamaica Plain, MA; three great-grandchildren, Liam James Roach, Sophia Rose Roach, and Everett James Manley, as well as several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Castellazzo and three sisters, Blanche Bernacchia, Anna Spadoni, and Laura Casagrande.

The family would like to thank the staff of Village Crest and Dr. Jeffrey Tyler for the care and compassion extended to our mother and our family.

Private Funeral Services will be held at graveside, and burial will take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1:30 pm in St Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield,CT.
