Theodore Robitaille, 87, athlete, Marine
Theodore R. (Ted) Robitaille of Lewisboro, NY, died peacefully at his home on January 8, 2015.
He was born in Hanover, CT on November 17, 1927; a son of the late Rosilda (Charron) and Ralph Robitaille.
As a child, he loved to hunt and fish with his father. His father taught him to be an excellent basketball and baseball player. He was a big New York Giants fan and loved to watch the Sweet Sixteen college basketball games.
He was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, Becker College and Boston University. He was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha; the honorary journalism fraternity while he attended Boston University.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps near the end of World War II. He retired several years ago from Pitney Bowes where he especially enjoyed doing industrial musical theater for their conventions.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield and the New Canaan Senior Men’s Club.
He loved to travel and planned many trips for his friends. His life was filled with enthusiasm for everything he did and he loved his life.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Goldie (Sabo) and his cat, Meggie.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday January 10, 2015 at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will private.
A memorial service in celebration of Ted’s life will take place at 11 am on Saturday April 11, 2015 at The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield; 103 Main Street, Ridgefield.
