Robert L. Ratté, 93, architect and man of many interests
On September 27th, Robert L. Ratté of Ridgefield passed peacefully to the music of Chopin with family by his side.
He was born May 30, 1921 in Lawrence MA to Eva and Auguste Ratté. He married Dora Tucci in 1949 and they had three children, Pierre, Maria Pia and Jeffrey.
Robert sought beauty in form his entire life. He worked with Paul Rudolf and designed iconic buildings and three homes during his life as an architect. He practiced Tai Chi, climbed Mt Rainier at the age of 69, did the crossword puzzle daily, and he studied eastern philosophy, western classics and poetry. He was a gentle, reflective man.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Dora, and his brother, Marc. He is survived by his two sisters, Lillian and Beatrice, and his brother, Raymond, and by his three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of Robert’s life is being held on Friday, October 3rd, at 11:00 AM at the Norfield Congregational Church in Weston, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Columbia University First Generation fund or to the Museum of Modern Art.
