Steven Henry Kastuck, beloved friend and teacher, passed away January 22, 2018 at the age of 65.

A native of New York, Mr. Kastuck graduated from Ridgefield High School, CT in 1970, then attended SUNY where he received his bachelor's degree in music education.

Over the years, Steve performed in many orchestras, and published a plethora of percussion books and sheet music. Though he spent some time in the IT field, his passion for music never waned. Eventually Steve settled in Winchester, VA where he earned his living as a private music instructor. Always generous, caring, and jovial, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In his free time, Steve enjoyed hiking, photography, building model trains, and spending time with friends.

He is survived by his sister Judith Ann Kastuck, cousins Vinnie DeBerto and Carol Lyons, and his close friends Carl Arena, Lauri Brew, Patti Anthony Grabiec, Nancy Amos Singleton, Amber Harris, Matthew Alley, Hunter Alley, and Wyatt Vaught.

A celebration of Mr. Kastuck’s life will be held at 1 PM on April 7th, at The Bavarian Inn, 164 Shepherd Grade Rd, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.

In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made in his memory to Education Through Music (ETM), a charity organization that brings music education to disadvantaged schools.
