Family and friends are deeply saddened by the death of Stan Strauss, 72, on September 23, 2018. Stan was a long-time resident of New York City and of Brookfield, CT.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Marie Paulette, his daughter Caren Strauss and grand-twins, Jake and Cate, of Ridgefield, CT, and his daughter Brielle Stockton, son-in-law Tye, and grandsons Zach and Ryan, of Vail, CO. Also surviving is his sister, Jackie Triefler, of Glendale, WI. Stan was preceded in death by his brothers Rudy and Stewart Strauss.

Born on the Lower East Side of New York, Stan was raised in Brooklyn and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army and was part of the 97th Signal Battalion stationed in Mannheim, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1967.

Stan studied Liberal Arts at Brooklyn College and received his B.A. Degree from Hunter College in New York City. In his professional career, Stan was a technical writer for Merrill Lynch and a publications editor for Reuters America. After surviving a cardiac arrest in 2010, Stan received a heart transplant at Mt. Sinai Hospital in 2011.

Stan was self-taught on the guitar and loved music, especially bluegrass. He enjoyed biking and had a special place in his heart for Cape Cod, where the family often vacationed. He was skilled at using tools and was always content working on his property in Brookfield. Stan was an avid reader of world history and in another life would have wanted to be an archaeologist.

A memorial celebration will be held at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, NY, on Saturday, October 13th, at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you contribute to the charity of your choice.
