Sarah Katherine (Moffett) Richards, age 76, passed away peacefully with family by her side in the early morning hour of April 28, 2018, after a brief but aggressive battle with Cancer.

Fondly known as “Mimi” to her grandsons, Sarah took every opportunity to shower them with love and affection. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, scrapbooking, and jewelry making; was a collector of a winter wonderland village of Christmas Carolers; and gifted pineapples, undoubtedly because the fruit symbolizes traits of a true southern gal — warmth, welcome, friendship and hospitality-traits she exemplified in every aspect of her life.

Sarah was born Jan. 3, 1942 in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Colonel Clewis Clayton Moffett and Ary (Magee) Moffett. Sarah lived in many places including Guam, Germany, Mississippi, Kansas, and Maryland. She graduated in 1960 from Arundel High School in Gambrills, Maryland. After studying in Germany, Sarah went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts from Millsaps College in 1965. Just prior to graduation she met and later married Ted Richards on Aug. 13, 1966.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 52 years Ted L. Richards; her sons and their spouses Christopher and (Maris Cotta) Richards and Kevin (Marni Ratzel) Richards; a cousin Linda Sinquefield Haymans; grandsons Devon, Dylan(Chris), Arlo and Winston (Kevin). Sarah will be dearly missed by all of her many close friends.

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Sarah will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Sarah’s life will follow at the family residence located at 5 Standish Drive, Ridgefield CT, beginning at 2 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be in Sarah’s honor to the Regional Hospice Center for Comfort Care & Healing in Danbury, CT.
