Mary Ann Hogan, 84, departed this life on January 16, 2019 at Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, CT. She was the beloved wife of William Hogan. Mary Ann was born in Chicago, IL on October 27, 1934 to the late James and Marion (Seraponas) Wallace.

Chicago was her home town. She grew up there and attended all her schooling including the secretarial school at Depaul University. Upon graduation she was hired by a firm of hotel representatives handling business reservations for many hotels in the United States, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. After working in Chicago for a year, she was transferred to Cleveland. She found her interest was more in sales so she moved to New York City where she lived at the Barbizon Hotel with her friend Jean Hoffman. Shortly after she arrived in New York, she went on a blind date and met her husband-to-be, an orthodontist practicing in New Canaan, CT. They married in 1956 and moved to Ridgefield, CT.

Six children (three boys, three girls) were born to the couple. When the children were grown, Mary Ann worked handling reservations for a club in the Bahamas but left after the club was sold and reservations were handled out of New York. During this time she also worked as a Hospice Volunteer.

In 2004, Bill and Mary Ann moved to Southbury and in 2006 they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Bill passed away in 2007. Shortly after, Mary Ann moved to Pomperaug Woods to stay in Southbury.

Mary Ann is survived by six children: Margaret McGovern of McLean, VA, Elizabeth Hopwood of South Hero, VT, William Hogan of Ridgefield, CT, Amie Trombley of N. Swanzey, NH, Father James Hogan of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and Christopher Hogan of Richmond, VA. And sixteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by her son at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11am. The family will receive visitors from 9am to 10:45am at Carpino Funeral Home prior to the mass.
