Mark K. Glaser, 63, of Stone Ridge and Green Pond, NJ, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was a son of the late George Glaser & Maureen Schneider Glaser of Ridgefield, CT.

During his formative years, Mark and his family lived in Bethesda, MD, Needham, MA before moving to Ridgefield, CT where he graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1972. He attended Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ.

Mark and his wife, Jan reside in Green Pond, NJ and enjoyed a weekend home in Stone Ridge, NY. Mark worked for corporate Volkswagen during the 1980s as an Analyst and later as a VW mechanic. In the mid-1990s, he became the Maintenance and Facilities Manager for the Glen Ridge Country Club in Glen Ridge, NJ until 2007.

Mark was a passionate builder, mechanic and was a prolific writer of poetry and political commentary. Mark was a volunteer on the Catskill Mountain Railroad in Kingston, NY for the past 10 years and was on the Board of Directors. He inspired those around him with his dry wit and work ethic. Mark loved the outdoors, working with his hands and thrived on restoring life to machines and beauty to landscapes. Mark cherished his family and friends and loved a simpler life filled with natural beauty.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jan Harrison of Stone Ridge, a son, Mark F. Glaser of Green Pond, NJ and a brother, Jeff Glaser of Cornelius, NC.

In addition to his father, Mark was predeceased by a brother, Drew Glaser.

Mark will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Service and interment will be held privately.
