SOUTHBURY — Helen Tidgwell, 86, departed this life peacefully surrounded by her family, on December 12 at Danbury Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Tidgwell.

Helen was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 18, 1932 to the late Frederick W. and Helen F. (Miner) Robertson. Helen graduated from St. Pius High School in Providence and went on to earn an Associates Degree from Rhode Island College. Shortly thereafter she met and married Henry M. Tidgwell Sr., who was serving as a pilot in the U.S Navy, at Quonset Points, RI. She would refer to him throughout her life as “the love of my life.”

Helen lived in Ridgefield, CT from 1966-1993, and enjoyed her many friends and working as a realtor at Preferred Properties. Helen’s greatest joy was the relationships she had with her four grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her son H. Mark Tidgwell, her daughter-in-law Lynn Tidgwell, and four grandchildren: Daniel Tidgwell, Thomas Tidgwell and his wife Melissa, Connor Tidgwell, and Kelleigh (Tidgwell) Sturges and her husband Thomas. Helen had three great-grandchildren Virenne, Eleanor and Thomas.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Southbury, CT.
