Carole (Kelly) Leary, age 77, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 30 after a long illness.

She was the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Leary of Ridgefield, Connecticut, where she was born in 1940.

Kelly lived in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Florida and worked as a customer service representative for United Airlines until her retirement. She was an avid animal lover, having rescued dozens of cats and dogs throughout her life, and an active traveler.

She enjoyed a full and happy retirement in Fort Myers Beach, where she participated in volunteer organizations and supported animal welfare societies. She always found joy in the community and beach that surrounded her. Kelly was fortunate to have many wonderful friends in her life from all stages, including her closest companion, Audree Inglis, who lived with her until her death in 2008.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Leary (Christian), her sister, Inez Barrett (Bob), her youngest sister, Roberta Montanari (Guy), and her sister-in-law, Sharon Leary. She was predeceased by her oldest sister, Lorraine Conklin, and her brother, Daniel Leary.

Kelly’s family would like to thank Jo and Lee Robins, her closest friends in Fort Myers Beach who supported her during her illness, and the Regional Hospice of Danbury, Connecticut.

The funeral will be a private family affair.
