Michael A. Heft, 71, of Ridgefield, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Danbury Hospital with his family at his side. Born August 19, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Saul and Sara Heft.

Mr. Heft was an active member of the Ridgefield community since arriving in town in 1993. In addition to his volunteer work at Temple B'nai Chaim and Weir Farm, he swam at the Recreation Center, was a member of the Candlewood Camera Club, and participated in a wide range of adult education classes. He loved watching Ridgefield grow and could frequently be seen at the Playhouse, CHIRP concerts and at the Library. Mr. Heft was a market research professional for 35 years and an adjunct professor of marketing.

He is survived by wife, Bonnie, sons Adam and his wife Heather of New York, NY, Matthew of Hayward, Calif., and Ethan of Ridgefield, and his daughter Sarah of Ridgefield; two grandsons, Ian and Graham Heft of New York, NY. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara of Dedham, MA, and Alice of New York, NY, and by eight nieces and nephews.
